Abstract

In the current era of Society 5.0, digital literacy and adaptive technological skills have become essential for students, where AI-integrated instruction is viewed as a highly effective, creative, and engaging strategy to enhance these competencies. This research is motivated by the traditional reliance on human intuition in sports officiating, which often faces challenges in precision and consistency; while previous studies have focused on manual pedagogical evaluations and basic motor skills, there is a significant gap in assessing the impact of automated systems on cognitive and psychomotor development in officiating. This study aims to systematically review the integration of AI-integrated officiating systems in handball to enhance fair play and sustainability. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with a PRISMA framework, the research analyzes diverse high-impact publications and technical documentations utilizing advanced AI-modeling and machine learning software as primary analytical tools. The results reveal that AI integration significantly impacts match management by providing positive scaffolding in real-time decision-making, although some findings suggest that over-reliance on technology may reduce the natural flow of the game if not balanced with human oversight. It is concluded that Handball Technology 5.0 fosters a sustainable sports environment by ensuring objective justice and professional integrity.
